Kent Low Carbon Community Partnership update

Collective Energy Switching Scheme

A new initiative led by Tunbridge Wells, Dover, Dartford and Gravesham Borough Councils, will offer residents assistance to get a better deal and save money on their energy bills. The collective energy switching scheme will enable residents to group together to harness their buying power and negotiate lower energy tariffs on their behalf. The aim will be to encourage as many households as possible to take up the money saving opportunity,…

Bees, Butterflies and Blooms

If you didn't see the recent BBC2series by Sarah Raven you can watch it again here

We encourage pollinating insects in both our town centre plot and community allotment with lots of flowers and by providing places where the insects can live and hibernate.

Hi Sue.Thanks for your message. I'm currently recovering from illness, so can't set up a food coop - yet. For now my participation will have to be mostly via the website, but I look forward to getting more involved in the future. Jackie

Yes, Sue, that would be good - whereabouts shall we meet?

Hi Sue - thanks for the welcome.  I would be interested in anything gardening/wildlife/foraging that may come along.  Unfortunately, I work Tuesday to Thursday but am available in the evenings (now they are lighter) as I finish about 5.  Also I'm available Fridays but not usually over the weekends or Mondays.  Look forward to hearing from you.  Jane

Hi Sue, thank you for the welcome. Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I am fairly new to this. A forgaing outing would be brilliant, I am just a beginner but I am very keen to learn more and get out and about seeing what we can find. Are there many others interested? Hope to hear from you soon, sorry I missed the allotment meet earlier today, hope it went well.

Still trying to book a room Sue. But, it would potentially be Wednesday the 30th that I'd have time in Tunbridge Wells. Would you email me at susiej(dot)gray(at)yahoo(dot)com? Then I can get you my telephone number? thanks a bunch! susie

Thanks for the warm welcome Sue!

I am not in Tunbridge Wells at the moment. I am still piecing together what life will look like for me while i'm in England. In generally, i'll be in the Tunbridge Wells area intermittently. Depending on many factors.

I may be in town next Wednesday, November 29th and would enjoy meeting yourself or any Transitioners for tea? Otherwise, I do hope to be able to attend some other events while I am here!

best wishes-

susie

Thanks for the welcome Sue, I am mainly interested in getting this vital rail link reopened as it will bring so many benefits to Tunbridge Wells including a significant reduction in road traffic right across the area. There is a campaign which is working hard to achieve this which I belong to, see http://www.wealdenline.co.uk and http://www.bml2.co.uk Thanks, Richard

hi Sue

we use it for horses at livery and our own, we have a small herd of pedigree cows

and we take hay from it.  25 acres is ancient woodland which is amenity and coppicing.

so there are things to explore

Thank you for the welcome Sue.  I'm definitely up for the allotment meetings/work and look forward to meeting people.  Also looking forward to sharing ideas - one of my bits of wisdom learnt last year was that courgette plants will take over the world given half a chance :o)
